We recently reported on an enforcement action released by the Federal Communications Commission against a citizens band radio operator in Illinois. The FCC sent the CBer a letter asking him to explain to them his alleged broadcasting activity on Channel 19.

Mobile FCC agents had tracked his signal to where he lives and listened to him during an alleged broadcast last year. How he answers — or whether or not he answers — the notice mailed to him will determine what action the FCC may or may not take against him.

The story generated thousands of comments on our social media channels. What we learned more than not was how many CBers don’t understand many of the most important rules regulating the use of the 27-MHz band. So with that, we present five things that you may not know about the FCC’s CB radio rules, regardless of whether or not you agree with them.
