For years now, there has been only one CB base station sold in the United States that has been type accepted by the Federal Communications Commission. Only one manufacturer has been producing this sole base rig.

Back in the 1950s through 1980s, base radios ruled the roost with more varieties than mobile rigs. As we became more of a mobile society, mobile citizens band radios took over, mainly because it’s easy to plug them into a 12-volt power supply for home use, adding to their versatility.
