NatCom Rewind is a regular feature showcasing articles from past issues of the magazine that still have relevance today. This NatCom Rewind feature from July 2023 has been updated for this year. It was written by Chuck Gysi | N2DUP | editor and publisher.
Last year, America’s Hobby Radio Magazine featured the article below to alert our readers to frequencies they may want to monitor for Fourth of July events in their communities. However, some readers told us that their towns’ events already had passed because of early celebrations. Thus, we thought it would be fair to update this article and present it again, especially because we have many new readers.

Is your scanner ready for the Fourth of July?

Next week, the United States will celebrate its 248th birthday with events in towns large and small all across the country. There will be fireworks and parades and many other types of hometown events. Take along your scanner and let NatCom serve up some thoughts on some frequencies to monitor for Independence Day.
