SCANNING: Will there be more railroad detectors on the air?
Check for trackside voice detectors in your area on VHF road channels
We recently heard that the BNSF railroad is working to improve rail safety by installing additional hot box detectors along rail lines. This is in the wake of a recent derailment in Ohio that has been making news headlines.
The trackside equipment detectors monitor every locomotive and railcar every hour of every day as they pass by. If you live near one, you can hear the voice reporting on road channels.
